Every third day, in our #EveryThreeDays campaign, I write about a woman killed by a man. Previously in this campaign, which started on 2nd May 2021, I have remembered 77 women, the last being Carolyn Hill, who lived in Essex.

Today we remember hairdresser Sian Roberts, 36, who lived in Higher Broughton, located just outside Salford near Manchester. Sian had a relationship Glynn Williams with Manchester Evening News reporting:

Sian Roberts was stabbed in the chest by Glynn Williams at her own home in Higher Broughton back in November 2015. Police found the knife was lying in her own hand when they entered the flat… in an attempt by the killer to confuse investigators. However detectives linked Williams to her murder when they found his bloody footprints throughout her flat on St Helier’s Drive.

During the trial, prosecutors described Williams as a friend of Ms Roberts, and that both were drug users. And this week Williams, 53, of no fixed abode, was sentenced to life in prison and will serve a minimum of 21 years for the murder of 36-year-old Sian Roberts following a trial at Manchester Crown Court.

Speaking as the case concluded, Sian’s daughter Shantay paid an emotional tribute to her mum. She said: “As you’d say ‘God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers. Here is my tribute to God’s strongest soldier. Your life might have been short-lived but it was most definitely lived. I have never known a person to inspire and touch so many different lives in such a crazy and unorthodox way. You definitely left your mark on this world through all who knew you, and you will definitely live on in all of us. After 15 long months in limbo we’ve finally got justice.
