LONDON, UK — TransLucent, one of the leading UK human rights and advocacy organisations dedicated to advancing equality, legal recognition, and healthcare rights for transgender and gender-diverse individuals is proud to announce award-winning actor, author and Artistic Director, Alan Cumming as its newest Patron.

Cumming joins long-standing LGBTQLGBTQ LGBTQIA+ is an inclusive term that includes people of all genders and sexualities, such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer, intersex, asexual, pansexual, and allies. Speaking on his appointment, Alan Cumming said:

Lord Michael Cashman CBE—co-founder of Stonewall, former Member of the European Parliament, and member of the House of Lords—welcomed Cumming to the role:

About Alan Cumming

Alan Cumming is an internationally acclaimed Scottish actor, author, director, and advocate. Born in Aberfeldy, Perthshire, Cumming trained at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama (now the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland). His celebrated career spans stage, television, and film:

• Screen: Emmy Award-winning host of the hit reality series The Traitors US. Renowned for roles in The Good Wife (earning multiple Emmy nominations), GoldenEye, X2: X-Men United, Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion.

• Stage: Lead role in the much-lauded Pitlochry Festival Theatre revival of A History of Paper; Tony Award-winner for his iconic performance as the Master of Ceremonies in Cabaret on Broadway; performed extensively with the National Theatre of Scotland and most recently in the musical version of his TV sitcom The High Life.

• Writing & Advocacy: He is the author of several books, including his best-selling memoir Not My Father’s Son.

• Artistic Director:  Alan is currently the Artistic Director at the Pitlochry Festival Theatre in Perthshire, Scotland.

Beyond his artistic achievements, Alan Cumming has been a lifelong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, civil liberties, and HIV/AIDS awareness. He has received numerous honours for his humanitarian work, including 6 honorary doctorates, being named on the Time 100 list, and being canonised by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
