EHRC is not fit for purpose?
Following the recent revelations in Vice News about the EHRC, we are making public, information and analysis that, in our opinion, show that the EHRC is unfit for purpose.
This evidence also exposes the EHRC’s Statement on the 2nd February 2022 as the sham it is. These are not ‘allegations’ or ‘out of context’, but rather they are provable, documented facts about serious failings at the EHRC.
The EHRC appear to be contributing to the circumstances where the Council of Europe (an international organization founded in the wake of World War II to uphold human rights, democracy and the rule of law in Europe) – bracketed the UK with Russia, Hungary and Poland in their Resolution 2417 (2022).
Dated 25th January 2022 this resolution (entitled “Combating Hate Against LGBTI People in Europe) failed to get any media attention purely the media themselves contribute to hate in the UK. We are also very concerned that we can find no reference that the EHRC has made any statement about the Council of Europe’s Resolution.
Just one major UK news organisation published this story, with ITV reporting:
The UK has been identified as a country notable for “extensive and often virulent attacks on the rights of LGBT+ people” over the past several years.
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) identified the UK alongside Hungary, Poland, Russia and Turkey as countries where this was of most concern.
On 15th Feb 2022, ILGAILGA A driving force for political, legal and social change for LGBTI https://www.ilga-europe.org Europe (The Europe wide LGBTQLGBTQ LGBTQIA+ is an inclusive term that includes people of all genders and sexualities, such as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, queer, intersex, asexual, pansexual, and allies. While each letter in LGBTQIA+ stands for a specific group of people, the term encompasses the entire spectrum of gender fluidity and sexual identities. https://abbreviations.yourdictionary.com/what-does-lgbtqia-stand-for-full-acronym-explained.html https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGBT+ advocacy and human rights organisation) released its 2022 annual review. The UK section makes for particularly damning reading, once again empasising the rapid and seemingly inexorable slide on LGBTQ+ rights here due to rampant anti-trans rhetoric. Lowlights includee identifying the BBC as a source of misinformation, including the laughable 10 part smear on Stonewall in the Nolan Report podcast, the accellerating trend of rising hate crime, disbanding of the LGBT Advisory Panel, ongoing failures in healthcare access and explicitly identifying Fair Play for Women as an anti-trans group – one of a host trans hostile lobby groups the EHRC appear to have aligned themselves with.
The EHRC released letters recently that show:
Following these revelations, and given that we believe these actions are wholly incompatible for a human rights organisation, we reiterate our demands as follows :
