At Translucent, we are committed to monitoring all aspects of the Gender Recognition Act (GRA), to advance visibility, social acceptance, legal recognition and improve healthcare for the UK’s transgender and gender-diverse community. As part of this, we’ve written articles concerning the GRA in order to:
- Advocate for GRA reform: Our articles support policy changes like GRA reform [See previous conversation].
- Monitor government consultations and responses: We follow and analyse government consultations and responses related to the GRA.
- Investigate stakeholder involvement: We scrutinise the involvement of different stakeholders, including trans hostile groups, in GRA discussions and reforms.
- Address misinformation: Our articles directly address misinformation and disinformation about the GRA and its potential impacts.
- Examine legal and policy frameworks: We offer analysis of legislation such as the GRA and the Equality Act, and how they intersect with trans rights [See previous conversation].
- Call out bias: We highlight bias and trans-hostile sentiments within reports and reviews related to the GRA.
- Promote inclusivity: We advocate for inclusive practices and policies that ensure transgender individuals can fully enjoy their human rights under the GRA [See previous conversation].
- Provide resources: Our articles aim to provide information and resources related to GRA applications and processes.
- Monitor single-sex spaces: We address single-sex spaces, and the Equality Act, and confirm that there are no planned changes.
- Promote solidarity: Our articles emphasise the importance of solidarity and collective action across different communities to support trans rights and GRA reform [See previous conversation].
- Challenge narratives: We challenge narratives that GRA reform would impact single-sex spaces.
Concerns that Sunak’s attempts to block the Scottish GRA bill will cause a constitutional crisis and continue hurting trans people.
