We are disappointed that the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRIGANHRI The Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions brings together and supports national human rights institutions to promote and protect human rights Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions https://ganhri.org ) Subcommittee on Accreditation has not downgraded the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). We remain of the view that our criticism of this organisation is justified, and we will continue to hold them to account through submissions to GANHRI, the Council of Europe, ILGAILGA A driving force for political, legal and social change for LGBTI https://www.ilga-europe.org and other stakeholders.
While retaining its grade-A status, it does not give the EHRC the right to continue to advocate for the reduction in the trans communities’ human rights. However, we recognise that the trans community represents just 0.5% of the population, and, as a consequence, we only have a tiny voice.
We look forward to learning about the EHRC’s plans to reduce the toxicity of the ongoing discourse and how they intend to rebuild trust.
