Our letter sent today to Rt Hon Wes Streeting MP Dear Minister for Health and Social Care, We write to express our grave concern that individuals who hold gender‑critical views are being permitted to participate in decisions directly affecting trans healthcare, including within regulatory and clinical settings, and that trans people themselves are often excluded from the same processes. The fact that Professor George has been recused from the MHRA puberty blocker panel is a clear recognition that certain framings of sex and gender can distort clinical decision‑making. However, the issue extends far beyond one individual, reaching into the…

The Tip of the Iceberg: Facing the Truth About Trans Youth Suicide Content Warning: Suicide. Behind every statistic is a young person whose life was cut short, a family left grieving, and a future lost due to a society unwilling to acknowledge the truth. For years, the trans community has raised concerns about the mental health and well-being of our youth. We have witnessed their struggles, supported families in crisis, and, tragically, mourned losses. Despite this, our calls for action have often been met with scepticism. Decision-makers have dismissed our concerns as anecdotal or minimised the scale of the issue;…

The 5,000-Year Legacy: Gender Fluidity in the Cradle of Civilisation At TransLucent, we often hear that gender fluidity is just a “modern trend” or something invented by the West. However, when we look more closely at history, it becomes clear that gender diversity is not new—it has existed for millennia and was even regarded as sacred in many cultures. In Ancient Mesopotamia—the so-called “Cradle of Civilisation”—gender diversity was at the heart of their worldview. At the centre was Inanna (Sumerian) or Ishtar (Akkadian), the Queen of Heaven, whose power came from her ability to break down boundaries. The Lady of…
WI Support Group: Group aims and objectives: This TransLucent subgroup has been established for all members of the Women’s Institute to gather, discuss, exchange information, and provide mutual support. Membership of this group is not restricted to WI members; it is open to past WI members, trans allies, allies, and supporters of an inclusive WI. This follows the December 3rd 2025 announcement by the Women’s Institute of England and Wales that trans women will no longer be accepted as members, and that existing members will not be able to renew their membership. Founder of this group: Petra Wenham, a member…
Evidence from 382 FOI requests shows that the alleged crisis of trans women in single-sex spaces is unsupported by actual recorded complaints. Continue Reading What FOI Data Shows About Trans Women in Single Sex Spaces

The Sunday Times and the Art of the One-Sided Narrative. By the TransLucent Team At TransLucent, our mission involves campaigning for visibility, acceptance, and legal recognition for the trans community while actively countering the misinformation and disinformation peddled by trans-hostile actors. Following Hadley Freeman’s recent Sunday Times article, “We won the Supreme Court sex ruling. The PM is subverting it,” we believe it is necessary to go beyond merely correcting the facts. We must address the systemic bias in how the media constructs a narrative that purports to speak for all women while silencing the voices of those most affected. Constructing the “Expert”…
The Equality Act: Why Trans Rights Still Prevail in Tribunals On 16 April, the Supreme Court ruled that, in the Equality Act (EA) 2010, “sex”, “man” and “woman” refer to biological sex, and that a Gender Recognition Certificate does not change a person’s sex for that Act. Time will tell whether this judgment violates Goodwin; however, in our opinion, it likely does. Needless to say, many gender‑critical (GC) campaigners and their media allies hailed the SC judgment as a “landmark.” Some organisations, including the WI, Labour Women’s Conference, and Girlguiding, have since cited legal risk to justify excluding trans women,…
