Briefing Notes - For MPs and Media

Briefing Notes For MPs and Media Victims of far-right, “gender-critical” organisations with seemingly unlimited funds (often from evangelical sources), a culture war against the trans community, which started in 2017, see no signs of abating. The UK trans community consists of approximately 250,000 people, roughly the same size as the Jewish community. Approximately 50,000 people identify as trans women, with a similar number identifying as trans men, the residue often being non-binary. Many trans people have mental health issues, often because of difficulty in getting a job (one in three employers admit they are sceptical about employing a trans person)…

TransLucent Puberty Blocker (GnRH Analogues) Position Statement

Introduction TransLucent has carefully considered the factors contributing to the withdrawal of puberty blocker treatment, sometimes referred to as Gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) analogues for young trans people. Puberty blockers (GnRH analogues) work by mimicking a natural hormone, binding to receptors on the pituitary gland, which eventually pauses the production of sex hormones that lead to the physical changes of puberty. We have concluded that there is insufficient evidence on which…

We will update here as and when we get it.Our report is “supported and endorsed” by LGBT Consortium…

EHRC and GANHRI - A Statement

We are disappointed that the Global Alliance of National Human Rights Institutions (GANHRI) Subcommittee on Accreditation has not downgraded the Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC). We remain of the view that our criticism of this organisation is justified, and we will continue to hold them to account through submissions to GANHRI, the Council of Europe, ILGA and other stakeholders. While retaining its grade-A status, it does not give the EHRC the right to continue to advocate for the reduction in the trans communities’ human rights. However, we recognise that the trans community represents just 0.5% of the population, and,…
